85 extra cab help
#1
I just got a 85 extra cab 22re 4x4 short bed automatic
bangerand trying to decide what mods i should do.
it has a broken piston but the rest of the motor is in great shape and the cam and rockers are new. i want to put a small lift and probly some 31s or 33s. I need to know some good pistons and some engine mods that wont effect the gas milage much. also some good ways to lift it. This is the truck that i will have to drive every day so nothing to extreme. Any 1 know where i can get some factory gauges with a tach build in? Thanks for any suggestions and i will have some pics up soon.

read about quench. it is one of the little tricks that will make for a more powerful motor. it is basically the height of the piston top in relation to the top of the block.
on a stock motor (factory pistons), the pistons are either perfectly flat with the top of the block or even up to .006 above deck height. aftermarket units are typically shaved down a bit reducing the compression as a result.
