Nvm that idea i totally forgot that you wouldn't have a slip joint so yeah you gotta find 4wd shaft.

All driveshafts have to have a slip joint if the differential moves. I am guessing that the 2wd shaft slip joint is on the tailshaft. I don't know anything about 2wd Toys...

I guess I will continue attempting to find the ever elusive one piece factory shaft until I get the funds for DC extended front shaft... Whichever comes first...

Hmm I've had 2 extra cabs and both had the one piece shaft. One an '86 one an '87.

I'm running 4" of lift in the rear of my truck plus 6" shackles and the shaft is fine, no worries of it coming apart at all.

If you can't find one just take a standard cab or 4runner shaft to your local driveline shop and have them lengthen it.

So if what I just read is correct they stopped using the 2 piece after 85. My last 85 xtra cab had a 2 piece and was almost maxed out with a 4" lift. Still trying to find another 85 but excited to hear that 86 has a solid drive shaft.
Thanks for all the great posts

No the 2 piece shaft was used through the 90's and maybe even later.

Some trucks just had a one piece shaft. Not sure why some did and some didn't.
