84 valve and spring question

so i got a 84 block and its bored .40 over and i also got a rv cam i just got a head for it for 50 bucks its missing a couple of valves so i was wondering if i should just get stock valves or should i upgrade and if i do what should i get and will i have to get machine work done on the head? Also what kind of valve springs should i go with? this will be a work and play truck. New to toyotas so if you guys got any ideas let me know mahaloz.

if you get new valves your going to have to lap them in for a good seal..ide recommend letting a speed shop do it..i paid 120 for 1 valve, guide and seal put in and all the valves re-laped..shouldnt be too much more for more valves...there about 10 a peice new?..and if you have the finds.. ide look at a port and polish

depends on how much $$ u wanna fork..i think itll run fine with a stock head and a RV cam..but itll allways run better with oversized valves and bigger runners...you can check out http://www.engnbldr.com/head_shop.htm everyone swares by his stuff

Valves and springs

U can buy a brand new head complete from Japanengine.com 4 $269.00 if you have used head u need a machine shop to check it out.Buy the time they do hardly anything you could by the new one.Depending on the cam it is probably recomended heavier springs like a 180 -200 pressure open at .5 lift. Part # 6610 at Shneidercams.com 4 $42.00 easy to change with cheap overhead valve compressor tool u can even rent at parts stores.Do some research as to what to adjust your valve clearance as they will likely tap and make noise with factory spec's.I run .007 intake and .009 exhaust set cold but this may be to tight i do not have enough miles on mine yet to safely recomend this to you do your own reseach and only go with enogh to satisfy you.A good cam will make a huge differance in power especially with good exhaust header/cat muffler etc
