on a 84 carb truck there is a hose that comes of the bottom of the air filter housing and goes down to a canister, it has a little suction but not alot, I belive it is to suck out extra gas and burn it out the exhaust. My question is would it hurt to cap it of? The reason I ask is po of truck cut out that section of the inside of airbox that muffles the sound so it makes a loud gurgling sound but if you put your finger on it its quite. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

 

It sound like your missing the resonator the goes between the air cleaner and air switching valve, with out the resonator its probably very loud.
