84 4x4

My truck has the 22r with carburetor. I am the original owner. Bought truck Jan. 22 1984. Looking for the BEST person or company to help me restore back to showroom condition. Can anyone help or suggest. Thanks!

I would add your location. Someone in your area may know of a good place.

Just finished rebuilding the carb. on my 1984 sr5 4x4 and it is running just like it did the day I took it off the lot from Rose Toyota ( now San Diego Toyota) back in January of 1984. Yes I am thee original owner of this truck. Quick story,,,I had called El Cajon Toyota looking for parts and of course they said they don't make parts anymore for my truck. I said to the guy that worked there " don't you realize these trucks last forever and that some people keep them forever",,,,, he replied to me " that's the problem with those trucks, they last forever".......... WOW, they refused to help me......THANKS TOYOTA!

Im still in possession of my 86 4runner bought new. Well actually my 28 year old son has it now. Its been restored about 5 years ago. My oldest son had it after me and then my daughter. Now my youngest. It will stay in the family forever Its definately getting near impossible to find factory parts. Im currently restoring a 1980 and man, 7 years ago, parts were much more plentiful then they are now. Keep on keepin on

That's awesome. My 1st toyota was an 86 4runner I bought of the lot with 1500 miles on it in 86...bunch of old farts in this thread
sometimes you get lucky and a parts guy will dig for you, but parts are getting way hard to find. Heck one forum considers my 94 a classic

Did you have anyone restore this thing?

Old farts it right on. I had the fever back then. Luckily I had a good paying job in the petroleum industry and worked for a buddy's company detailing and prepping new cars at Jimmy Bryan Toyota in Orlando, Fl on weekends. I first bought a regular cab 4x4 up in 86 then the 4Runner. Man it was nice to not have a mortgage payment lol. Then in 88 I bought a 2wd for work (traveling out of town) and a MR2.

As as far as the restoration on the 86 4Runner it was in excellent condition as my kids new the value of nice stuff. When my youngest son took it over he did all the work except for media blast. He sent it to a shipyard in Tampa Florida to get done. While it was gone I'd ask him about it and he would just say "it's in the garage " I was vey surprised to see it done again.
