Hello all, So my 1985 4Runner 22re has had a rough idle for like three months. It's been on and off and now it's the worst it's ever been. I've replaced so many parts and finally did a leak down test. Well cylinder #3 has no compression

Anyhow, I have an engine ordered placed from 22reperformance but I had a question. Is it ok to keep driving my 4Runner? Can I do any damage to the exhaust or anything? I'm getting a new intake as well so I'm not worried about that.

Anything I can do to make it better short term? I have to wait till December for my engine! Hope it's worth it.

Also, kinda nervous about putting in the motor myself. Any good videos or tips?

You shouldn't hurt anything by running it, and depending on why you have no compression (rings or valves) you can always try one of those engine restorer gimmicks to help restore compression from bad rings...worth a shot anyway, found at any local autoparts place

If you are getting a new engine, I would run your current one hard and not worry about it. I guess the cat could be damaged by burning tons of oil or something, but I would not worry about it. You might want to check the valve clearance. If one of the valves has gotten too tight then you will lose compression.
