22r Cooling Issues

My dad is having an issue with his newly rebuilt 22r. When we first started it it would overheat, then we replaced the thermostat and it still overheated. My dad took it for a drive and it stopped to over heat. It was all good till he was almost home and the upper radiator hose blew, what the heck is going on?

It could be a number of things . Is it leaking coolant ? if so that could be a problem .Find the leak. If not . I probably would check the timing .
Start there ,then come back and post your results.

No leaks and timed properly. The rebuilt short block does not seem to have been boiled. There is tons of sediment like rusty stuff, its not the radiator cause its brand new. dunno what it is.
