1994 4runner alloy wheels chrome? oem ? look
Hi,
I rescued a loaded black 1994 4runner from the scrap pile, it needed a new motor.
In cleaning the wheels up, they polish almost to a mirror shine with mothers mag polish. Are they chrome plated? Are these wheels an OEM option or did one of the previous owners have them plated.
The front wheels are peeling a bit from the heat of the disk brakes I guess.
Other than that they should look pretty cool when I am done.
OEM or aftermarket? anyone know?\
I took a picture , but for can't get it to load.

Toyota never offered that wheel in a chrome option. You can polish the finish out really nice, and it appears chromey, but its not a true chrome.
If your wheel is indeed chrome, it was done aftermarket.

No, offset 8 refers to the backspacing...I am assuming the "offset" refers to the backspacing, and the "8" is the spoke count, but i am not 100% sure. Its still a 15x7" rim.

offset is the location of the hub mounting surface with respect to the centerline of the wheel, so with a 0 offset wheel, the hub mounting surface is at the centerline of the wheel, a positive offset moves the surface towards the outside of the wheel and negative offset moves the surface inwards.
backspacing is only the distance from the mounting surface to the inside flange of the wheel. If you had an 8" wide wheel with 4"
backspacing, the offset would be 0.
A wheel with 8mm offset would be pulled inwards toward the frame 8mm more than a wheel with 0 offset
