1985 Toyota Hilux/Truck 2.4 Turbo Diesel Dual-Cab

Oh gosh, you know I only just thought about it, and that its not part of this tub!
So the original picture was the factory tub. When I made the small flat bed, I used the metal protector part and incorporated it into the custom frame. It was a cheap, simple job and so I used scavanged parts. The edges were made with an old steel bed frame rails. I had a professional do the final welding.
Anyway after I sold the Hilux to my good mate, he later found a donor YN65 petrol Hilux, and swapped the flat bed for its tub. He also swapped the axles, and a door, and whatever bits were better. The petrol version apparently had a slightly lower diff ratio, which would help with the 35inch tyres. I cant really notice a difference. But either way the axles were in a bit better condition, as the original rear one on my Hilux had had a clogged breather which led to the seal blowing on diff. And it didnt look like the petrol hilux had been used for much other than driving. It was an economy model, without even a taco, from memory. It went pretty well off road while he had it though.
He sold that after switching parts around. So I dont know if it just didnt have the protective bars, or if my mate cut them off to fit this roll bar. Either way, I now know it doesnt exist.
The only thing I want to add to it is a bullbar, Id like the aluminium one like in some of my first pictures. Theyre light and not too bulky, but because they angle forward the top is the very front of the car, and makes maneuvering more easy, especially with no power steering and the occasional reverse parallel parking.

Oh, and I REALLY want to get my hands on a side decal kit. Just like on the picture posted above my last post, or something like it. Im not sure where to find them though. Theres jamesdeancreations who does a bunch, but theyre all for single-cabs or extra-cabs. Some might fit though, but Id have to see if they would leave it uncut so I could do it for this.
And I wonder if anybody knows if you can buy stick on "TOYOTA" letters for the tub door bodywork letters? Or if Id just have to try to paint them with a brush cuisineas cleanly as possible.

Ah yeah I reckon, at least Id be willing to risk that all the dimensions are the same as long as its that same square model. Is that yours? Where did you find that kit for the double cab? Single cabs I found here and there.
I had another look at jamesdeancreations and found the tailgate lettering, so I'll get that in black. On Ebay I can only seem to find tailgate kits for 88-onwards models, I wonder of the lettering is the same size by chance.

Running perfectly now again by the way.
Im pretty sure there was a bit of water in the diesel, as it had sat with half a tank for about 1.2 years. I added another 20 litres and idled it for a while. I purged the water seperator drain a couple of times, and then it was running as per normal, starting on first crank and all that. There was also definitely some air in the system to begin with, as I had to prime it and I had the diesel hoses off for inspection. So it could have been both or either, but simply running it for a while cleared everything up. Its so good to have a very simple, high tolerance diesel engine. It is the slowest thing on the road, but its worth it.
Im finding the right rear will want to lock up if I brake mildly-heavily. So I guess it's due for a full brake bleed...

Something like that would be perfect down the side. I haven't had much time to do anything to it though, as I work quite far from home most of the time. But in a year or so I'll be in another place and I'll have a proper workshop type area again and I can start thinking about it.
It is amazing how reliable these old Toyotas are. Apart from having a eucalyptus leaf stuck in my cabin fan that made an annoying sound for a while, it still starts first time and gets about without any irregular maintenance. And considering all that it's been through.....

edited photo btw
OP sold the car to me earlier this year, not sure what the rules are about bumping threads in this forum but mind as well show a photo of the car in the original thread! Hasn't changed much since OP last gave an update to this thread, still has the same suspension and one of the wheels still locks up a bit but runs well of course being a Toyota Hilux! It needs a bit of work, especially with the rust holes in the floor, the play in the steering, window seals coming off when winding down windows and a lot of other quirks. Hopefully I will get to change the oil this weekend along with giving it coolant (It has water in it right now instead)
Also would like to know if anyone knows where I could get a front driver seat (or a different seat that bolts up to the Hilux rails) as right now it doesn't have a passenger seat as the passenger seat is being used as the driver's seat.
