1985 22r-te SFA pickup??
Hi! my first post here looks like a great forum!
My name is Daniel, and I live in Norway. I have a 1984 Hilux with 2L engine... I need more power... Toyota Norway give admission to install 2L-t engine, but even that is too weak. My plan is to take a VNT turbo, another dieselpump, and push 120Hp out of the diesel and on top of that get is street legal.
To get this legal, I need documentation that toyota has offered a engine with same or more power than I plan to install! and after alot of research, I found out that Toyota sold the 22r-te with solid axle up front in late 1985 in USA(RN65)! Is there anybody on this forum who has a stock turbotruck that I could use the VIN from, to prove there was delivered pickups with this setup?? I would be really happy!

My question is, why couldn't Toyota in Norway provide this information. If your needing proof that Toyota produced that model, then they should be able to check their database.
I thought 86 was the first year of IFS and 22re-t. And late model 85 would be considered an 86 correct? So I would think a 22re-t would be factory with IFS. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, Toyota norway say they do not have time to dig up information like this. i dont give them money
The 22r turbo was never delivered here in norway either.
But if I send them a chassinumber that belong to a RN65, they could confirm that this truck was delivered 1985. Then I tell them to make me a document that show that RN65 and LN65 have the same frame and axles, but different engine and brakes. Then I use this information when I go to the Government asking for goodwill for this project.
If you go to toyotapartzone, you find that the parts for the 22r-te is valid from 08-85. All solid axles came with solid discs up front, but the turbo had ventilated.

i know 06-85 is when they started produceing the independent front suspension so if the 22r-te came out in 08-85 there is no way to have a stock soild axle pickup with a stock turbo motor.

yes, I have a 2l-t thats going in, but I can not get it street legal with more than 90HP for a small fee unless Toyota did sell a car with more power stock.
if I want to install a engine with more power than the truck was delivered with here in norway, I have to pay for expensive brake, chassi, seatbelt, engine reliability, c02 measuring, mpg-measuring, soot-measuring tests and so on.. = WERY EXPENSIVE (about 30000usd)
It has become WERY difficoult to do things easy in this country! There is several Hiluxes with 350 and 4,3v6 street legal, but they were done 10years ago when the system was not so strict....

Great, after 1 hour with google, I find several 1985 picups with EFI and solid front axle, but when I go to toyotapartzone and toyodiy it shows no solid front axle.... Anybody have a truck in this option that I could borrow VIN and try a search?

There should be plenty of people with an 85 EFI solid axle on here. I have heard there were very very few turbo solid axles that made it out before 86. You could try posting in http://www.22rte-trucks.com/simplemachinesforum/

Toyota started putting EFI in the trucks LATE 1984, which would consider them an '85 model year. So there would be some out there that was EFI and solid axle. Like BoostedRNR said, some turbo models could have made it out before '86 since they started building the '86 models in LATE '85.

Yes,but was it sold as a 85 model when produced after 08/85?
I guess 22rec and 22rtec is the same base engine! So there is theoretically possible that some turbo trucks with solid front axle was sold! Wonder if Toyota had a register over sold cars at that time?
