Will long bed fit short bed truck?

Will long bed fit short bed truck?
I'm buying an 83 4x4 (short bed)today. The bed is no good. I did find a long bed-box for sale. Will it fit? The extra length appears to behind the rear wheels so it seems as though it should.

nope, not without modification. the wheelbase is longer on the longbed pickup, so you'd have to bob the front half of the bed to even make it fit. then you'd be left with a huge overhang.

Dang, that figures. I'll have to post a picture of it. It may be the ugliest 83 around.

I should also ask, will a short box from 79, 80,. 81 and 82 fit my 83?

all beds will swap from '79-83 at least, as long as you have the correct wheelbase(short bed, long bed etc)
