What years were the Toyota Pickups made and sold in the US.
I currently own a 1990 toyota pickup and was trying to figure out the exact years between generations. From what I can tell late 70's to 1995. I have found some information online, 1979-84, 85-88, and 89-94/95 is my information correct. Thanks!

79 was the first year of the pickups discussed in this sub forum. That is when they started coming over with 4wd. But Toyota had 2wd before that. And the stout was way before that and was in the USA.

The "official" U.S. specification trucks go like this:
Note: The generation in brackets [1st Generation] indicate Toyota's generation numbering. Most people (including this forum) go by the generation in red-orange, starting with the introduction of the 1979 4WD Truck. It can get confusing which generation people are talking about, especially in world markets where the generation numbering is not consistent. This is why it is best to go by year ranges.
1964-1967: Toyota Stout 2WD Truck [1st Generation]
1969-1972: Toyota Hilux 2WD Truck [1st Generation]
1973-1974: Toyota Hilux 2WD Truck [2nd Generation]
1975-1978: Toyota 2WD Truck (Hilux name dropped for U.S. market) [3rd Generation]
1979-1983: Toyota 2WD and 4WD Truck [4th Generation] What we call the 1st generation.
1979: First year for factory 4 Wheel Drive (Solid Front Axle)
1984-1988: Toyota 2WD and 4WD Truck [5th Generation] What we call the 2nd generation.
1984: Introduction of Xtra Cab
1985: Introduction of Fuel Injection
1986: Introduction of Independent Front Suspension for 4WD Trucks
1988: Introduction of the 3.0L V6
You may note that the 1984-1995 trucks on this forum are split up between the trucks with the solid front axle (1984-1985) and the rest of the trucks have independent front suspension (1986-1995)
1989-1995: Toyota 2WD and 4WD Truck [6th Generation] What we call the 3rd generation.
The information and pictures were found in Toyota's Historic Vehicles page. That is right, our trucks are historic!
