Alright, I have what is seemingly a good L43. Yes I know that they are not the most popular kid on the block, but for a vehicle that won't see much if any action, the price is right. I tried to take the aluminum panel off earlier this evening and to no surprise, she was a' stuck. Wasn't 100% sure if I should pry, or if the attached boot would get damaged. I also tried to turn the input shaft, and it would go give or take 1/2 turn then not spin IN NEUTRAL. Any positive ideas or suggestions? This trans is/was going to replace the L43 in my truck that has bad synchros.

 

Ok, got her freed up. Took a little persuasion, happens. This trans has a removable bell housing, so should I take advantage of replacing the input shaft bearing eventhough it feels tight? Any thoughts are welcome.
