I recently bought a 1979 Toyota Hilux from a private owner and he stated it only needed a carb rebuild. It made it an hour drive home after purchase. All of a sudden it would not start without starter fluid. So I threw parts at it. I also removed the EGR.

Has New:
Weber carb
spark plugs
fuel filter


Now with the new carb and spark plugs, It’ll idle for about a minute and then die again with a loud and quick squeal / Whoosh noise what sounds like by the carburetor? It will not stay running. What’s going on?
