valve lash on my 81 22r

valve lash on my 81 22r

I just fully rebuilt 22r from top to bottom set valves to 33 and 15 I believe and let completly warm up and then set them again drove it for prolly a hour staright around neighbor hood and reset again but they still ticking and its more then the. Normal yota tick what should I do......

Get yourself an FSM. Please..... They are free, guesswork is not.

Thousandths and that's what the fsm said was the right valve lash.....

Like I say its just a lil louder then I'd like it to be just wanted some ideas on what could help it out

better look again, and what manual told you those numbers? Should be 8 thous (.008") exhaust and 12 thous (.012") intake. 33 and 15 isn't even the right mm numbers which are .20 mm exhaust and .30 mm intake. Now this is out of the 85 FSM downloadable. Maybe the 81 is different and maybe you got mm and in mixed up?

I just seen where someone asked for a link for a free fsm and looked there and that's what I found....yea I'm way off then lol and that's possible to I just remembered 33 and 15 so that's what I went went I thought they was high but ill adjust and try again thanks xxxtreme 22r

np, like I said the above is from the 85 and maybe the 81 should be .33 mm and .15 mm (not thous) .
Either way if your one of the lucky ones those numbers should be listed on the under hood sticker as well if it's still there and readable that is.
