Hey everyone, Had a frustrating day yesterday and thought y'all might get a kick out of it since it is the way it goes with old trucks.
Was really excited when we bought the truck for $400, motor was bad, no big deal rest of truck is in great shape. Pulled motor apart and realized that block is toast so have to replace the motor and pay a core, so we were looking at $2000, still no big deal. Then things went down from there. We found a doner truck that I would get the motor ( 4.3 V6 ) with new rebuild on it and hubby got the body, that was cool they make and adapter, got the truck for $1000 cheaper works for me. Called the guys with the adapter and I have the transmission that you can not change the bell houseing. So not have to change motor, transmission, and transfer case ( guy said would be happier with strounger tansfer case) . So we are trying for find transmission and case now. Hope this made y'all smile......

 

That's the way it goes! A little research would have helped you there, but now you know! Upgrading to a later model transmission is a good thing on these trucks anyways.
