truck wont start, it's my fault
My truck started missing yesterday, so I took a gander under the hood. One of the plug wires (#3)had simply fallen off the plug w/the connection attached to the plug. There has been some oil hanging out around my head gasket so I used this as an excuse to purchase a compression test set, pulled the plugs and ran through the cylinders. Everything checked out fine, but I flooded the hell out of my engine and forgot to take note of the cylinder to distibutor cap relationship. Hey guess what!! my truck wont start.....my truck came with a 22r fsm and that is what I followed for the clockwise wire setup... any Ideas. I searched under stupid mistakes and did not find much to do with my problem. Oh, it turns for a second and then kinda backfires, repeat, I also used one of those make your own wiresets things. Maybe I messed that up??? you guys rock. Thanks for any help.

Look on the dist cap, it should have the firing order. Front to rear, 1-3-4-2 if i remember off the top of my head. Did you loosen the distributor at all and "adjust" on the timing/advance at all? Set the distributor back in with the rotor button at roughly the 12 o'clock position and it will be close enough for you to adjust.
