transmission

It will bolt to the motor, but other modifications will need to be made like crossmember has to be moved and the driveshaft length modified. This applies to our 79-83 4wd models though.

I don't know what transmission I have in my Chinook, but it's a 5 speed, and they came with 4 speeds. I don't know what other modifications were necessary, but I do know they had to cut and peel back the floor of the cab to fit it. Most of the modifications come from the later transmissions being longer in overall length than the early, especially 4 speed ones. So the stick shift is farther back and won't go through the stock hole in your cab.
So yeah...also probably will need to shorten the rear driveshaft to fit it.
But like he said, it will bolt to the engine no problem.
