Tranny Swap Questions

Tranny Swap Questions
I have a 1979 4x4 pickup 20R with the L43 4spd, I have a L50 5spd tranny and t-case out of a 1982 4x4 pickup that had a 22R. I?m doing the swap for a few reasons...one of which being that a fifth gear would be nice on the highway, not that it sees much, but junkyard runs become an every-other-day occurrence in the summer with my buddies. And that the 1st gear in the 5spd (3.93) is a bit lower as compared to the 4spd's 3.67. I know that I would need to buy the clutch kit for the 5spd. But my question is that I have heard something about needing the 22R flywheel. Not 100% sure on the factuality of this but will my 20R flywheel work? If not, I?ll pick one out of the junkyard b/c there is a 1980 pickup there with a 22R/5spd. Oh the fun of dropping a tranny in the junkyard, fun fun!

I believe the 20r and 22r flywheel are the same...early model 22r that is. I am not 100% on this but I think it is the case.
If not, I have a 22r flywheel/clutch off of a 1981 22r that I would sell you for the price of shipping.
Hope this helps,
Jon
