hey im replaceing a distributor on a 1980 4x4 truck with a 20r engine.my question is how do i time this engine if you cant turn your distributor cap ?im new to toyotas can anyone tell me how to time this??

 

If you search there are lots of posts on this here .

TDC @ 0* , incert dist. housing with rotor @ 90* .. it will mesh with the cam dist. gear and rotate back to # 1 . you can then further time to 5-8 *
