Slight Play in L52 Transmission
Hi guys! This is my first transmission rebuild so forgive me of any stupid problems! It's a L52 transmission from a 1981 Toyota pickup 4x4 5 speed.
I have been rebuilding my transmission after the input shaft bearing blew, I replaced the input shaft, bearing, and counter shaft. I just reinstalled my main shaft with bearings, the bearings are a little lose in the case, such as they can wiggle out when shoving the shaft back and forth.
I know that the bearings will be retained when I assemble the 5 gear set, but there is a slight gap inside the case on the main shaft and the wall of the 5th gear, when I try to test out the shifting the gap is large enough that my clutch hubs fall out... so not good any thoughts?
Gap between final gear and transmission case wall.
Different angle of gap.
Outer bearings pressed on, bearings slightly loose where they can slide out with pressure.
Front side of transmission.
Thanks!
