Shackle Lifts on a 1980 Pickup
I am looking to add a small 2"-3" lift to my 1980 Toyota pickup and have seen some of the shackle lifts that they sell on Ebay for around 50 bucks a set. I don't really care how well they work offroad, my offroading consits of driving though heavy snow, and out on a frozen lake. I am just looking to clear some 33 x 10.5 in tires for looks. Does anybody know how good these kits are? I have a welder, should I just make some of my own (anybody have dimensions?). Or does anybody have a set laying around they would like to sell cheap? Or am I just stupid for wanting to put these on my truck? Thanks

Depends on the shackles you get for you truck.. I had a set of shackles that were "supposed" to work but were too wide. Sometimes if you add shackles without a front drop hanger, you're pinion angle gets messed up (points towards the ground) and that also messes up your steering geometry. As for the rear, longer shackles are fine as long as they're not too long! You may want to put in a small body lift... that's pretty cheap but kinda labour intensive. You could also do an add-a-leaf to the leaf pack.

33x10.50s will fit on your truck at stock height...i ran 33x12.50s on my 79 with absolutly no problems and now they are sitting on my 1982 parts truck with sagged springs and they clear fine
