Getting things cleared up under my hood. I have some kind of fuel return to the tank. Looks to be coming from the fuel pump. My question is...does this need to be mounted as shown in my picture? Can this be deleted and ran lower, and out of sight straight line to the fuel line

 

I have mine mounted straight down, they don't run up the fender, I made new fuel lines at the same time as new brake lines, nothing original there.
