81 Seats

Ok, before I get bashed for not using the search function here me out...

I am looking for replacement seats that offer the most leg room possible. I swapped my originals out for a set 2000 civic seats and they suck for me. They are perfect for my wife but I need more leg room and to possibly recline a bit.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

Space in an '81 cab just isn't that great. God help ya if you're over 6'.
"Taller" seat (cab floor to seat height) will give you a bit more leg room, but you loose head room.
Junkyard search for the least bulky seat you can find that is still reasonably comfortable.

Racing buckets are good for leg room. Otherwise, own the truck until you get old and shrink. You could try some early 80s Toyota corolla seats or something of that nature. You do get used to it though.

if you own a first gen and are over 5'8" you are kinda screwed.

Fiero or MR2 seats have a nice thin back that could gain you some room and still offer good support..if you can find them

I have Corbeau Moab seats in my 83 and I love them! I'm 6'1" and I can adequately and comfortably fit in my truck. I'm by no means kicking back and stretching out (after all, it is an old standard cab), but I don't feel super cramped when I'm driving. They are fairly economical too - I believe I paid around $225 per seat.

Here are some pictures of mine:

Damn Dave. Every time I start thinking that my first gen "Toyota fever" is in remission and I might be able to call the state my truck is in "good enough", you post up some new picture of your truck and I have a massive flare up of Toyota fever.

I guess Toyota fever is like herpies, you can treat it when it flares up, but it will be with you for life. Though, Toyota fever is only painful to your wallet.

I think my herpes have cleared up - haven't spent a dime on my truck in over a month!

Although I did just drop $36K on a new Tacoma... Nevermind...

I hear you.
Once the wife's 2010 RAV4 is paid off I've got all kinds of big plans.
Just torn between 1UZ for the '81 or calling well enough alone and getting a 60 series Landcruiser for my next project. Or maybe a 50 series if I'm lucky and can find a decent one. Or just get a new Taco.
God, I've got it bad.
The struggle is real.

I said the exact same thing lol. I'm 6'3" and have seats from an old eclipse I found in the local junkyard. I can comfortably drive with those. I think it's time to save up for some seats like Daves!

Wow. Now the $26,000 that restored first gen went for doesn't sound like such a bad deal.
