I saw this and I really can't believe it. Have people gone nuts? Since when does a Tacoma exist in 81?
Man people are gullible, they bid with no knowledge on what they are bidding on.

I don't think I have seen one this clean in a while!
The Tacoma thing most likely has to do with eBay, not the seller, judging by the vehicle description. I have seen this type of thing many times on eBay.
Since these vehicles were simply called "Truck" by Toyota, and trucks are usually a type of vehicle but not a particular model, eBay does not have a Toyota Truck as a model for vehicle listings. You either get "other" or "Tacoma". My guess is that Toyota Tacoma will get more views than Toyota Other.
I am curious where the bidding will end up (and what the reserve price is...).
for some reason ebay only has a listing title for tacoma periodically even for pre 95.5 truck, the tacoma list shows up for early trucks at times
that is a nice truck

I am not 100% sure why they put Tacoma in the title itself (maybe an auto-fill from the categories), but the first truck is listed under "Tacoma", while the second truck is listed under "Other". It is kind of hidden.
Yes, I looked at that also, But it seems the seller didn't bother to change it, rather he just listed it as a Tacoma. I know that the sellers think they will get more hits from a search when they add Tacoma in there listing, but that doesn't make it right.
Now don't ya think that that price is a little extreme??? Looks to me like a few people with two much money are going after it, Lucky seller i guess.
looking at that first truck you posted fothat is a $32k it seems like it is mission a few things for an SR5, like a tach and A/C and I think the steering wheel is incorrect
Nice truck, crazy price. You can thank Barret Jackson for the stupid prices on any older vehicle today. Try to buy a VW Bus today. The white 81, doesn't it have a later bed? My 81 has the latches on the outside.

I have noticed that a lot on the ebay trucks. There is one up there now, an 88, says it's a SR5 but it's not. Also it's got some different dash in it.

Plus no pics of engine bay............I texted him since he is local to me, about 50 miles away. No response yet, WOW I'm surprised..........
I take "BUYER BEWARE" very seriously Way too many crooks out there and not enough good guys!
This a really nice truck but not an SR5 but a really terrific Deluxe model. Great interior! the floor mat and door panels look NOS! Wheels from a 1984-85 SR5 truck and stripes from a 1979-80 Sport truck. No power steering, no A/C and a four speed means a pretty low spec even for a deluxe model. An SR5 sold in Vegas last year for 55K, so I guess 32K + for a deluxe is about right.
It's just marketing. If someone looking for a Tacoma types "Tacoma" in and they see this truck, then by all means call it a whatever you want. He created traffic on it. And the price? I like to see that value skyrocket. That's good for all of us, IMHO.

Yep, that is not an SR5 and someone at some point in its life put a 1987-1988 2-Wheel Drive grille on it.
Another thing, since these trucks really didn't have a name from the factory other than "Truck", people just called any Toyota pickup from this era an SR5, even though that is not correct. Some people know what they have, others don't, and some just don't care.
