Radio Fit

Radio Fit
I found this on crutchfield.com under their classic cars section. Does anyone know if this radio will fit in the original dash of my 82 SR5 4x4? Thanks in advance.

It should work but you need to checkout the new radio's front panel dimensions and the minimum / maximum shaft adjustment dimensions, especially the minimum adjustment dimension. Measure the shaft center to center and the radio face opening dimensions on you Toyota. The radio shafts were very close to the radios front panel on Toyota trucks.

Check out that thread below, it will fit

I plan on putting the Model 2 radio in mine, but it'll be a few months before I get to that that stage in my build.

Hey guys,
I did a little bit more research on this radio ordeal of mine.
541SR5, that's a pretty clean fit considering crutchfield.com says it doesn't fit when you punch in the year and model of your vehicle. Haha! Catfish21, I found a place that builds custom radios for classic cars and they said all I had to do was send them the dimensions and they'll build one for me. $170, out the door free shipping and all. They said I'll have my radio within 7-10 business days of me putting the order in. The name of the site is vintagecarradio.com. Shoot em an email and they'll call you back within the hour. Guy I talked to, Brad, was pretty helpful and willing to answer any questions I had. So I think I'm going to go with these guys and have em build one for me. Just waiting on my dash to arrive. Let me know if you guys have any questions.

It's going to be a couple more weeks before I get a new radio in. The one that vintagecaraudio.com sent me was a POS. Didn't fit in the dash, aux cable doesn't transmit good sound, radio didn't transmit the song details like Brad said it would. So needless to say, I paid for one thing and got something else. Think I'm just going to pick up that Retrosound Model one since it seems to fit flawlessly in to the dash but first I gotta return this piece of trash. Pretty frustrating. I'll keep you guys posted

Thanks!
Abraham, Retrosound RC900C, I believe. I didn't have to do any cutting at all. The face itself was too small for the opening but it came with a black plastic adapter that increased the size of the face and it fit fine in to the radio opening of the stock dash. It doesn't fit flush against the dash but it goes in far enough to secure the unit and it still looks sharp.
Jhearold, It has an aux port but it's in the back. I wasn't a big fan of this because if something goes wrong I have to take apart the entire dash to get to the aux port but so far it works fine. I had to run the wire around the back and I have it coming out of the bottom on the passenger side.
I don't consider myself very good at customization but this was overall a pretty easy install. Came with manual and all that good stuff.

Jhearold, I wouldn't go through vintagecaraudio.com. I found it on Crutchfield but I bought it on Ebay. They have one on crutchfield.com they're advertising but there's no price on it. I guess you have to call in for it. I paid $170 for it on ebay though.
