Weber does recommend installing a regulator. Maybe the stock pressure is too high for the Weber. I bought the regulator at O Reileys for $30. Install took less than 5 minutes.

 

I put a regulator on her yesterday on my lunch, and thats when it started the whole dying thing. its at 3 psi. Im going out to tinker as soon as i finish my coffee, ill let you guys know what transpires.

 

Have you done the fuel pump, fuel filter?

 

Did the fuel pump like 2 months ago. Fuel filter a week ago.

 

also, I replaced all the fuel lines on the truck.

 

We pulled the carb cause it definately had a leak on the passenger side manifold to adapter. Got it back together, ran a little better, sprayed a little starting fluid on the intake manifold to head. rpms jump way up. got the new gasket, have my buddy putting it on at his shop right now.

 

i wish mine was that simple LOL

my idle cut solenoid wiring is causing problems LOL..im gonna just run 2 new wires to it wired directly into the ignition..that should fix it

So, he called me and said to get over to his shop immediately. I went, he said to look at the flange where the manifold bolts up to the head, and then, look at the head. The manifold doesnt have the same bolt quantity as the head. Basically, the rear of the manifold has one top and one bottom bolt to seal it. There is no broken ears, or un-drilled holes in the manifold. They just arent there. Im going to search around and see if i can find the two different 22r manifolds and determine what i have, and what i need.

 

I did an install about a year ago, I bought an Offy intake and a NWOR header to go with it. Had to to some mods to the adapter plate(good thing a have a milling machine). As far as tuning it takes one or ten times and I'm still not liking the idle, seems a little rich still. I did the regulator install and it really helped, have it set at 4psi because at 3psi I can run it out of fuel. It runs good offroad though and I get about 10-12mpg I'd guess. I am running a auto with 4.88's and 35's. I was disgusted with it at first but now I'm OK with it.

 

what offy manifold did you use? was it worth the money? I have one on my 81 with the 2 piece adapter. The adapter leaks between the 2 plates. I have had it apart 3 or 4 times and it always comes back. I decided to put the taller one piece adapter on. I will do that this week. I have never been able to get the idle like i want either, i felt like it was due to the leak at the carb adapter.... maybe not

Yes i did! I took that 2 piece adapter off and installed the 1 piece i bought from Summit Racing. Its taller but les places for leaks.

 

I've got my 32/36 coming from Webercarbsdirect which looks to be on Monday, just to make sure in case I have problems with my adapter this is the one you ordered? And by the looks of one of the gaskets it has the fitting for the pcv line?
