questions on a 32/36 weber install
I am installing a webber i stole off ebay, it came with the one piece alum adapter. I pulled the POS aisin carb off my 83 and there is a phenolic spacer under there. Is it best to leave that? Has any one gone to the trouble of pulling the manifold and cutting out the divider between the venturies? Probably not worth the trouble?:dunno:
thanks, i figured it out myself
There is something to be said for the simplicity of the Weber. I dont doubt that the aisin carb is a good one, i just dont have the energy to get it re-adjusted after rebuilding.
The Aisin is good but you really need to be careful when rebuilding cuz many times it just doesn't come out the same or as good. I think the weber is great!
I have 2 aisin carbs for sale if anyone is intrested
how did your install go and how does it run?
I am still working on it. I have to clean and kit the carb. Maybe have it running this weekend.
Weber carb is insatlled and she runs like a top! Still have a little final assembly of the linkage, but should be ready to drive very soon.
Waiting on UPS to deliver my weber today. Is there any issues you ran into, or anything "off" so to speak?
no everything went very easy. I am just putting together the bolts and spacers, all i bought was the carb, adapter and air filter. But made a huge diffrence in throttle responce.
I ordered the WHOLE kit. Couldnt resist the price. UPS needs to get here before work!!! Im soooooo anxious its not even funny!!!
well i spent a total so far of 150. and got 2 a/c assemblies out of the deal. But i also mechanic for a living.
Nice. I've only been wrenching for around 8-9 years now, 3 in the military and the rest on all my friends cars, not to mention countless battery installs through the current job for the last three years, ugh.
Okay, i followed the tuning directions to a T. It wants to idle at 2 grand! Did yours do this without the regulator?
i've heard that whenever you get a weber carb you almost have to run a regulator and it needs to be at about 3-4psi right??
i kinda wanna get one just because...but i think it's easier to just fix my problem right now...(no i still haven't figured it out Cgeorge LOL) then adjust that dude and be good |
I just adjusted mine till it ran like i wanted, i have no reg and it idles around 900. im not sure what press the stock pump puts out. but over pressure would cause flooding not high idle
well, adjusting the idle screw makes no difference at all. Still runs the same. if you rev it, it will drop to 1000 wich is fine, but then goes slowly back up to 2000. Im seriously 1 step from driving it into a wall.
the throttle stop screw is very sensitive, just back it out then adj the idle air screw again, then throttle stop.... till ya get it set. It may take a time or ten to get set. Its not as easy as the paper says, but not hard either. just keep playin with it
well, she started idling at the proper rpm, and now dies whenever you depress the clutch (let her idle). im thinking vacuum leak, but i will check in the morning.
carb problems piss me off too dude...don't ever give up though...it's most likely something very simple LOL
