Question About Pre 84 2wd suspension

I'm getting my first Toyota Truck, a 1980, and I had a few questions about it as I'm a noob when it comes to Toyotas. I noticed quite a few companies make Long Travel kits for the 1984+ Toyota trucks but none for the 1983 and earlier models. Is there a specific reason for this? I heard there are slight differences in the suspension designs of the Pre and Post '84 trucks. Are any of the parts interchangeable, as in could I graft on say a 84+ Total Chaos kit? Thanks guys for helping me!

Been awhile since I looked into this but If I remember correctly you will need to scavenge certain parts from a post-84 in the junkyard to convert yours to a post-84 front end, in which you can lift it. There were some rumours of a pre-84 kit, but I cannot locate one.
