My '82, stock everything 5 speed long bed got 19.5 on average. That was 50/50 city/highway.

Gas mileage has nothing to do with tank size.

My truck is getting around 18 hwy and 12 town, but the thread that was started on this same topic (it's got to be around, check the archives. won't be hard to find) there where some impressive numbers. I know I have some carb/emissions issues, so I should be able to get better mileage, since my truck is about 80% rebuilt and I run 30/9.50's. BUT, with the solid front axle etc I think these trucks in general have a heavier weight, higher stance (more wind resistance), and all that, so I'm guessing they just won't get the mileage newer trucks will. I could be wrong about the SFA weighing more than IFS, and someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these trucks were just much less highway oriented, and more offroad, and so they just won't get the same mileage as a newer model Toyota.

With a fairly stock truck though, in good running condition, seems like you should easily be able to get 20-25 hwy and 15-18 city. But when these trucks start having carb/emissions stuff, which old trucks will surely have, they start getting crappy mileage.

ya. bought if from an old man that had bought it brand new. i can't even us 5th right now. in the market for some 5.29s, have 1 set so far. but with the stock gears the speedo's messed up so my engine is at the rpm for 50 mph but i'm goin 65 or so.

Well looks like we have gotten off subject a bit huh??? Lol! Anyway thought I would say I'm getting about 19-21 on highway I'm all stock in my 82 with I believe 4.10 and 33x10.50 I run about 75 mph on average most ive been able to do I got the speedo to say about 78-79 but it is actually about 10% off with the bigger tires so I was probably doing 85-86 mph oh ya and that's downhill lol!! I run about 75 but when I hit even a little hill it slows unless I'm in 4th
