Post your gas mileage 1st Gen Truck (79-83 ONLY!!)
#181
Before I put a roof rack on it and loaded it down with all my stuff, my 78 Chinook with a Weber carb got as good as 22mpg, highway. Worst was 17mpg. Once loaded down and with roof rack, dropped to more like 14-17mpg. Still pretty good.
Stock carbs are great until they aren't. Then a Weber will give you better mileage. When tuned right they definitely don't make your mileage worse than stock.

I'm getting about 17 mpg with a 302 v8 and 35's, with a 5 speed from a later yota and the stock gears for the 1980 pickup. I'd get this consistently if it wasn't so fun to mat the skinny pedal every time I get behind the wheel, haha.
