Personally I wouldn't even bother with the plastic inserts. Just paint it yourself. Get some herculiner and roll away! Takes about an hour to do it the right way, but if you just follow the instructions, you'll have a picture perfect job in the end.

The one huge problem I have with the plastic liners though is that they trap in moisture, and can cause some pretty bad rust. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed with Wid. Any number of roll/spray on bedliners are much better than a plastic insert.
I really like the Duplicolor kit; for 80 bucks you end up with decent armor. Better than a rust-magnet drop-in liner.
