Haven't had much time to touch the truck, been so busy.

Got a battery and cables for it so if it's not too cold on Sunday, I'll start it up.
Found some material to make some rocker protection.

Beginning of April I'll start working on it, doing all the body and frame work.

Looks great but I just have one question...Do you live in a freezer? If i had to try and build a rig when it was cold out all the time, well, I would probably be driving a 2wd Toy...

Can't wait to see the finished product...

Those wheels came with it. They bolted up but the back spacing is wrong. I've got spacers in the back but no spacers up front.
I'll be tossing these in the next few months.

It's actually starting to warm up around here. I haven't touched the truck due to the cold.

Heh, from when those pics where taken to now, most of the snow has melted away.

It's gonna warm up this week so I'm going to get the truck going. Plus I might be welding up the rocker protection just because I can.

Alright, I'm actually getting off my lazy ass and working on the truck today.
I wanted to do the floors but it's windy and looks like rain so I'll leave it for another, nicer day.

Well, I didn't get much work done this weekend, I worked on a friend's Jeep instead.
I'm going to start prepping it for body/frame work this week and then pull the carb off and rebuild it. I'm not looking forward to doing, it's going to be a learning experience for sure.

Friday afternoon with the help of my buddy's F150, I LITERALLY dragged the Toyota onto my street then pushed it into my drive way. It took some time and some muscle on mine and my neighbours behalfs. The wheels aren't the proper back spacing so they rub like hell on the steering arms/TREs.

Then on Saturday all I did was paint my steering arms and clean all the crap out of my interior. Then I helped my buddy work on his Jeep.

I also found out that one of the pervious owners bobbed the truck a good bit. I have to plate off and clean that up a tiny bit so I'll do that when patching my frame.

Nasty vynil, we don't need no stinking headliner!

I still need to get rid of the left over fluff ☺☺☺☺ but I was loosing sun light and it started to rain so called it a night. I've got Friday and Monday off for Easter so I'll use that to get some work done.

Hammered my Ford Shock Mounts.

The truck has already been bobbed by one of the previous owners, one less thing for me to do. However, I now have no where to mount my Chevy springs rear shackle (needs to be back 4" from stock). How do I fix this? Simple, make a bumper/shackle mount. Here's a quick drawing:

What do you think? Should work I'm guessing.

Post 7 was my rough paint drawing of my idea for a frame already cut right behind the stock shackle mounts. I know the frames arent the exact same from our trucks but its the same concept. I 'd love to see this truck built up nice so I'll be checking in! I love 1st gens!

PS: Whats the plans? Got the dual cases part, 22re swap?, 36's-37's I hopes

I think the shackle/bumper mount should work.

Plans, well for this year I just want to get the sucker running and wheeling. I will have 35s, 5.29s, 4 wheel discs and aussie locked front and welded rear, front bumper and a read bumper. That will make me happy for now.

Next year I will do a dual fuel propane conversion from gotpropane.com, dual cases with 4.7 gears, 30 spline longs, totally beef the front axle and do an interior cage and tube bed, maybe step up in tire size.

You've got an 85 right? If it's EFI, forget it, can't convert. At least not easily.

Carb'd trucks benifit because propane will let you run at any angle you want. The gas mileage is decent but I wouldn't want it for a DD, finding some where to fill up might be hard.
I want to run the duel fuel kit so I can drive (running gas) to the trail. Open a tank, pull a lever and flip a switch to turn LPG on the trail and then switch back to gasoline to drive home.

Here in Wa. it is quite a bit cheaper, plus there is a discount for fuel purposes. Not bad for DD, except when you leave home and need to find propane at 1:00 am. Then you are screwed. It would be fine for a car to get to work that way you know where to fill it.

Yea, my issue is distance.
I don't trailer the Toyota and I won't for a while. I don't want to be in the middle of no where in either Canada or the US (I wheel over the border a few times a year) and not be able to find propane. Dual fuel is perfect imo.

I just checked the weather for this weekend and wouldn't ya freaking know it they are calling for snow, damn Canada!!
Hopefully it won't be too bad and I can still get some stuff done.
I'm going to prep and clean up the Chevy springs plus make some hangers for them.

Huh Yeah my truck is a 95 not an 85. I wish it was an 85, wouldnt have $1500 in SAS stuff in my basement right now. I'm glad to hear about the propane thing I'll never shy away from buying an older yota now...

As for those shackles, just be careful when yours shackles are the first thing to hit when reversing.

The shackles will be tucked under the truck a bit so hopefully the should be ok.

I should also mention that next year I'll be doing a w56 swap and a flat belly. Clearance!!
