drove her today probably the first time in about 2 weeks and boy is it a rough ride... but I definately miss it ... and I am loving the weber carb on her it is great... the power is awesome and gas mileage is just as good as before (even with me being hard on the throttle)

now Im torn between building up the 81 or taking it back down to stock I love the power of the weber carb and dont want to loose it by beefing up the truck

 

its all in the gearing.

 

but I dont have the money to keep building it will be a while before I can do anything else

I think the front springs are supposed to be like that. On pretty much every stock toyota SFA truck ive seen they look like that. Even in the original toyota broshures before they had time to sag. My truck looks much like that and it seems to sit with the right stance, as does yours. I may be wrong though.

 

Looking at your photo of the front end, where is your steering stabilizer shock? When I first got my 83 it was missing. I installed a new one and man what a difference, just a thought.

 

its there its just as dirty as the axle and blends right in... its also the factory skinny one so its hard to see

 

If it's factory take it off and pull it out, then push it back. If it does with little effort replace. Parts that long on any vehicle will go out. Just a thought have you taken it in and had the tires spin balanced?

 

yeah the tires are almost new... and I plan on replacing the stabilizer when I do high steer or when I figure out what I am going to do with the truck

 

My biggest problem is the tires and keeping them in balance. With 33X12.5-15's on her they are always cupping and howling. Every so often I take her into Les Schwab and have the tires respun balanced. The one problem I have is the rims that I have, when they but the weights on the left tie-rod end will nick of some of the weight.

 

thats to bad... I only got 31s and stock rims and mine are A/Ts and I havnt been off road with them yet...

 

so Im looking into getting a locker but not to sure which one to get ... it is my DD and I ocasionally in the dirt... I am in between the Aussie or Lockrite... but if better for my application maybe a LSD... and at the same time I want to ether install 4.56 or 4.88 gears...

 

did some more body work today. got rid of the rust on the bed sanded it and bondo and primed now just need to do the other side

did a face lift on her swapped out the round headlights for some square ones thanks "83" and I also got my new suspension installed and I am very happy with it I think its a keeper tis time lol and my 31s back on her... the only thing I need to do now is get proper shocks the current ones are (new) for a 77 toyota land cruiser and work great for 1-2" lift on my truck but are for road purpose only dont leave much room for travel only about 7"s I am looking into get some better shocks but I want to retain a great street ride so I am thinking bilsteins but would like to know how they are on the street

go myself a new topper (for free) it has a few cracks and no rear window but worth it for free... I only had to drive an hour to get it and do a lil wheeling... the guys drive way was 4miles long and required 4 wheel drive and I wish I had a locker so thats next!.. anyways here are pics!
