ive seen a pacific edition in the junkyard before, so im guessing your truck is a desert boy, and probably nothing but a fancy paint scheme and some other nicnacs.

Mojave was a "special edition" from TMC .... yes right from toyota ...

it was a #plated limited edition 83 toy 4x4 .
We just put a new bed on one .. and its for sale .. not by us .. buy the owner .

Question

Just curious what you guys think I could get for an '83 Toyota Mojave 4x4 with only 12,000 Km on it? <- not a typo.

It's 100% original and in close to new condition. It was purchased new in '83 and was only used for 3 years, mostly for transporting my motocross bike around - I had another car for day to day driving. Since 1987 it's been sitting in a low humidity garage which basically acts as a showroom for the Mojave and my low Km '90 Vette (15,000 Km).

As someone already mentioned, the Mojave was a limited edition Toyota model, but I have no idea whether or not that would effect it's value. Off the top of my head, compared to the standard SR5, the Mojave came stock with a few extras that were options on the SR5, like a sunroof, sliding rear window, better tires, etc.. Of course it was also equipped with some extras that were unique to the Mojave model, like it's two tone seats, brown paint, gold colour decal kit, heavy duty gold colour rear bumper and roll-bar, along with a "Mojave Limited Edition" dash plaque - mine reads number 093 (out of the 500 that were made).

All opinions welcome

I managed to dig up a few pics. The top one was taken back in '84 and the bottom one was taken about 3 years ago.

In addition to a dealership undercoating job done when it was new, it was also given an *extremely detailed* rust proofing back in '86 just before I stopped using it. The entire under body (frame, leaf-springs, axles, wheel-wells, etc.) actually looks better now than it did the day I took it home from the dealership in '83. . .

Btw, several years ago I bought a set of new 3-piece Enkei rims and some used Mickey Thompson tires for it - offhand I forget the size. I was planning on having a lift kit/shocks installed and getting the truck back on the road, but I got lazy and it never happened.

The rims/tires have been collecting dust in my basement since the day I bought them. The tires are interesting in that the sidewall tread design looks a lot like the design of the decal kit on the Mojave. Here's a pic I found on the net of the same tires I have:

I always thought the truck would look awesome with those tires, and from what I remember they're highly rated as well -'Baja Belted' is the model.

A few quick photoshops:

Found this pic while searching through my photo albums. It was taken in '83 or '84 and it does a good job of showing the true paint color. . .

A friend of mine has a Mojave, but it's just a frame now, so there goes another of the 500 made! He's butchered it and patched it and bent it and it's basically worthless. There is NO info on the Mojave on the net. Nice truck BTW!
