Hey y’all, I put this replacement carb from national carburetors on my ca model 1983 22r pickup. It’s running well for the most part but I noticed my old Aisin carb had a hole under this cover that a vacuum line goes to and my new carb does not. Can anyone tell me what that line might be for and if this will effect my emissions? The first pic is the original, the second is the replacement. Thanks again
I believe that is where what Toyota calls the hot idle compensation valve goes. It is a little bi-metal thermostat with a conical plunger on it which opens and allows vacuum to work on something. I haven't really gave mine any thought and I'm not sure it works that well as my truck sometimes idles like an old Harley when its hotter then hell outside. Studying the FSM will likely glean some insight on how it works. As far as emissions...in Alberta they don't care about it and back in Taxtario (Ontario) it was age exempt so I cant help you there.
