so on my 80 just recently ive had a light coming on with the letter chrg in red any one know for sure what this is im thinking maybe a charging problem but thats just a guess

 

Well.....You said "blinking". This leads me to believe that there is a loose connection. Check your battery terminals. Make sure they are clean and tight. Also check the charge wire from the alternator to the battery. Get it all secure and drive it and see if the light goes out. If that doesn't work, pull the + off of the battery and see if it will run and drive. If not, it's the alt.

 

I would look for a loose conection on the alternator
