Ok, I've searched my questions haven't been answered. I need a lift kit for my 82 p/u...something in the range of 800-1000$ I've seen the spring lift kits....how does these work...do i need shocks,,,,becuase I believe that I would want some....

You have a 3/4 ton, that means it's a 2wd drive, that means Downey is the only game in town.
Yes, you'll need shocks. Give them a call and they'll get you dialed in. No one knows more about 2wd lifts than they do.

When you talk to the guys at Downey, the first thing you tell them should be that you have an '82 3/4 ton.
Without knowing much about these specifically, I have a sneaking suspicion that they use more heavy-duty components than the typical 2wd 1/2 tons; for instance, does your truck have 6-lug spindles (versus 5 for a 1/2 ton)? You might have bigger brakes, different A-arms, etc. I'll bet that your truck has quite a bit more different about it than just heavier-duty rear springs.
