knocking noise kind of

i got a knocking kind of...i know its not from the motor and it only does it when the truck is moving and the faster i go, the faster the knock goes....it almost sounds like from the tranny but im really not sure.

What happens when you are moving at speed and then put in neutral? Do you still hear the noise? If it goes away in neutral good bet it is in your tranny. If it stays around could be a wheel or an axle. More info would help.

yea thats true....it does still make the noise in N...so it must be the axle. im assuming its the passenger side since the passenger side also makes a rubbing noise but only when its in 4wd

Sounds like you are on your way to solving the problem. Drive around in 4X4 and 2X4 to see if there is a difference.

wow....so it just pops in my head..."hey check the axles gear oil..." there is nothing in there!
