Hey. FNG here. just bought an '82 standard cab, short bed, 4x4, 4 speed Pickup with a 22R. it was in great shape so i had to say yes! pics to follow soon if anyone wants to see them. go it from work. the gsm said it was a trade, and the gent bought it from them in late '81. only 121317 miles! right now its going to be a work truck, in a few i plan to hav some fun with it.

I think its the same color as mine once was, is that the redish orange paint?
Still trying to decide if I want to go back with the original color: I like red not an orange guy..but hey it was the 80's so the orange may be appropriate!

now if someone would reproduce those factory oldschool stripes...hmmm

 

That thing is IDENTICAL to my heap in my avatar. Now I have a photo of what mine looked like once upon a time. It's never going to look like that again sadly. Only difference is that mine has the round headlights (which I'm quite partial to) Good luck with that truck!

 

its actually a really faded red. lol. however it is giving me some problems with starting first thing in the day. adjusted the timing to specs and put new plugs wires fuel filter air filter and some new vacuum hoses. set idle at 750 rpm and set a/f mix to spec. charge light and batt light. that usualy means alt/batt problems tested alt. charging okay. going to test the battery. its prob. old and crappy. oh and as far as the paint after some body work to take care of the rust going to paint it silver.

I had my charge light stay on after I had changed the alternater and voltage regulater.....turned out to be a fuse had rust on it and was not making good contact making the light turn on....just a thought

 

If the alt is charging, it's probably the charge light relay. If it's bad the alt will still charge, but the light won't go out.

 

Nice truck it looks a lot like mine. I picked mine up in November it had 120k miles on it ....I've only had 3 things go wrong. Lower radiator hose leaked on alternator killing it ....the rear semi-circle was leaking oil so I fixed that. although last weekend my Igniter went out. So I put a MSD 6A box in it.

The only difference I can tell is mine has has some striping and a huge decal that says 4X4 on it.
