Immediate Help Needed

My deadline for getting this truck running and going is getting near. If I can't make this 1980 Hilux 4x4 daily drivable, I'm going to have to get rid of it and bite the bullet. I have spent over 1000.00 dollars on it so far and it still will not crank and run good enough on it's own to be my daily driver.

I have replaced the head gasket, new timing chain, new valve cover gasket, new water pump gasket, new oil pump gasket ( o-ring ), new exhaust manifold gasket (Header gasket), new oil pump gasket. I also had to drop the tank and replace the fuel lines, and mechanical fuel pump. And all to no avail. Soon after i did this It would start and run, it needed the valves and carb adjusted but it ran.

I have double checked my timing, it's all dead on 8*, removed vacuum lines to adjust timing, just like the manual says.

Soon after replacing all of this, I tookt he valve cover off to adjust the valves and my oil looked like chocolate milk.. still a water leak somewhere. And it quit pumping fuel again, even though the fuel pump diaphram is still good.

My biggest problem and concern is this Carb. I cannot find a diagram, or replacement anywhere, Not in any field service manuals or haynes or chiltons manuals as well. I have scoured the internet for nearly 2 weeks looking and still am coming up empty handed. Even the local Toyota dealer no longer has the info for my old truck.

This is a stock 1980 20R engine. It's in a 1980 Hilux 4x4 long bed. I need to know if anyone has any vacuum diagrams, self made or anything, know of where i can get anoter carb at a decent price, know of any carb swaps that will work.. Anything. This carb has got to go.

I have already rebuilt the top half of the carb, new gasket, float, needle valve, etc. None of the local junkyards within a reasonable driving range has the carb, They all have the block.. I dont need the block, my motor has over 125 psi @ all four cylinders. It's great, no cracks or missing freeze plugs.

Please help.

If anyone has this engine and can even take pictures of the carbs vacuum lines it would be so much help. Almost every line on mine is plugged, capped or probably not even hooked up right.

Water in the oil sounds like do have a problem with you existing block.

here is a link to some 1981 vacuum lines I uploaded to my photobucket, there is 4 different sets(2 pages each) some might be Cali emissions.

there should also be a vacuum line diagram under your hood,

can't help you on the carbs, other than to try pm'ing dirtoyboy he has his own yota junk yard
or try yotayard.com or http://www.calminitruck.com/

those are the yards off the top of my head..

-did you pull the motor when you did all of this?
-are you sure that your carb float is at the right hight?
-your timing chain is on right and you double checked it?
-if you unbolt the fuel pump and just use your and will it bring up fuel and squirt it out of the "to carb" side?
-i am assuming it is a 4x4 federal (non-canada and non-california) let me know an i can put up a vacc dia from my FSM.

I already have a FSM for my truck it was the first thing I got. Thank you.
Thank you as well OCD.

I did not remove the block from my truck.
The carb float, I have no idea about or even how to measure. I'll look into it.
The timing chain is on right. I have quadruple checked it.
Yes, the fuel pump diaphram is working correctly.
Yes, it is a federal 4x4 from 1980.

Thank you.

your FSM should have everything you need. it is the one i listed on ebay? should have your vacc line picts on page 3-41
this is the FACTORY service manual not a haynes/chiltons.
if you have this book you already have over half of your answers.
