how to start the engine out of the truck

ok heres the deal i got my 20r sitting in my drive way my uncle that gave it to me said it runs but this was a few months ago and its been sitting so just to be safe before i order all my new parts i want to see if i can turn it over so i was wondering if theres a way to fire up my engine while its out of the truck ive seen people do it on youtube before but im not sure so ifany one knows how and would like to share that would be sweet k thanks aloha

I'd sit the engine on a tire, then on a wood pallet, then strap it all together with a big ratchet strap. That's the easy part though haha

If you just want to turn it over ... and not "run" it ...

just set on a stable support , and contact some battery power directly to the starter .

If you want to "run" it .. It requires a "cooling system" and "fuel system"

good idea assuming it has a tranny behind it to hold the starter in
also to run coil/ign sys,

just run a tiny fuel tank and no cooling... its not like ur gonna let it run for more than a couple minutes. ....or are you?

i ran a 350 chev on just a tyre, no cooling, no headers, no ear muffs... big mistake.

fuel tank was the hose from carb running to a plastic bottle full of gas..
