Hilux California

Very cool and thanks for sharing!
I always wonder why these are not more popular in Japan. I understand that during the time they were released it would have been a pretty large truck by Japan standards and other models fit the roles of Japanese farmers.
However, they must have been available anyway. They were sold all over the world and obviously did great in western countries.
Now that 4x4 and offroading has really taken off in eastern countries with vehicles like the Jimny and even Jeep being desirable, why aren't there a bunch of right-hand drive, early Hilux seen in Japan?
In the US everyone drools over cars that were never released here but we really lucked out getting the Hilux/Pickup.
Just a thought and perhaps someone else has more insight into this. I'd love to import an '81 4Door right-hand drive Hilux just to drool over it's existence!

The reason I posted the photos is that there is an identical JDM truck on Bring A Trailer at this moment. Check it out!

I saw that on BAT too. Interesting. Not a fan of that flare, but it is a JDM truck we never got here in USA. We never got that color either...I do like that though ;-)
Sold for almost 19k https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1980-toyota-hilux-2/
