Been my week for diaphragm problems with my 20R carb. 1st my aap diaphragm failed and sent gas into my manifold which led to some dramatic afterfires that blew a seam in my muffler. No longer have a catalytic converter (been gone since '98) or that might have protected my muffler. Replaced the diaphragm with one out of another carb I had sitting around. Next my high idle seemed to toggle on and off at random times. Randomly went from 2500 to 900 so I plugged the vacuum line that went to the high idle diaphragm and the problem immediately went away. Will I have any long term problems by doing this?
