Hey 1st Gen Pickup Crowd! **83 & Earlier ONLY** (Post your Pics Please!)
#1101
I've had my '83 for 3 years, bought it bone stock for $500 (sorry no original pics). This is how she sits now. It's been on the top 10 trails in Moab. Wish there were more yota's to wheel with here in SW Colorado.

81 4WD Shortbed
I really dig these first gen trucks. Just getting my feet wet...its my first toyota. The truck is mostly intact. One of the previous owners cut up the dash to put in a junk tape deck and there is some rot under the battery and around the bed but for the most part the truck has remained unmolested all these years. This is when I first brought it home a couple months ago and how it currently sits...waiting for cooler weather to dig in and start reconditioning everything. Still trying to decide if I want to go with a restoration or more of a build up project.

Yep, I do my best. Needs some interior work - the vinyl dash has seen better days. I've been looking for one that's in better shape, but no luck so far. And yes, it's got the 20R with the optional 5-speed.

Hey guys!!! Hows it going? This is my first post and here's my truck. It's an 80. Right now it's in the garage, I've pulled the engine(20r) out cuz it wasn't running and I'm lookin' for a replacement. The P/O told my dad an I, "I was driving it one day when it started smoking (white smoke) and stalled." He tried to restart it but nothing. A month later I bought it.
Kinda figured worst case scenario I sell the front and rear solid axles and scrap the rest. Now that I know what I'm dealing with, I know I'm gonna keep it and build it.
But anyway, I've stripped the block and it looks like the head gasket went bad and instead of fixing it, the P/O just used radiator stop-leak junk until the engine gave out. should'a known, there were 3 tubes of it in the glove box. lol
Plans right now are to find a 22r block and putting the 20r head on. I have to see about getting the head checked and honed.
If you guys have any suggestions as far as building an engine. I'd appreciate it.

Hey Thanks!!! Yeah, I can't wait to hear it running. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.

That is nice!
Never really thought about it but there does seem to be quite a few around town.
My family used to live in Napa we recently moved about 30 min. north.
