HELP! Need to make wiring harness for 22re in 83 pickup

I have a 1983 short box pickup. I was running a 22r with a weber carb and a small cam. But it seems that my 35"s with factory 4:10s was too hard on the engine. Anyway, i ended up with a really bad rod knock and decided it needed a rebuild I bought a 87 4runner with a freshly rebuilt 22re, auto. I bought the 4runner cheep so that i could put the 22re in my pickup that is already mostly build the way i want it. The 22re is now in my truck with everything complete besides the dash wiring and gas tank swap. I am looking for some help with the dash wiring. I would like to keep as much of the wiring that is factory in the truck as possible. If anyone else has any experience with this swap it would be a lot of help if you could share what dash wires you had to swap into the truck and what you were able to completely remove. I would like to have as little unused wires in my truck as possible.

Thanks

Red face

What you need to do is locate the electrical manual for your truck and the year of your engine.

Then you need to sit down look what you need to merge into the truck harness and what is no longer of any use.

I really doubt anyone has keep a wire by wire record of how this was done but you might get lucky.

You need the electrical diagrams for you truck and for the donor vehicle. You will have to sit down and draw yourself a new electrical diagram that incorporates the features you want or need from both. Once you have done that, you need to look at your wire harness routing, the type of electrical plugs / connectors you need, etc. All this takes time but when you are done (if you do it right) you will have a trouble free installation almost like it came from the factory. Do not splice wires, use wiring butt connectors or wire nuts.

Forgive me for being the pessimist, but if you're asking these questions you really are not prepared to undertake the task at hand and complete it properly. Seek out someone who has the knowledge and or background to help you along this project. That would be my advice.

Ill be sure to do that. Is posting a video as simple as posting a picture? Or does it have to be a youtube link?

It runs! I have to do the timing chain guides but currently have an lce timing chain kit with metal guides on the way. All the dash is back together and everthing works like its supposed to. I also added a check engine light to the factory instrument cluster.
