Glass pack?
#22
I have a CherryBomb glasspack that I had installed in 1998 because my dynomax cat-back was barely audible. At that point, I have factory exh manifold and factory cat. I had them put on a high-flow aftermarket cat and the cherrybomb at a local muffler shop. You can definitely hear it now! I drove it around for a few weeks. It was too quiet so I got the muffler really hot and stuck a waterhose in my tailpipe to break out the glass packing. Its louder now.
It doesn't sound ricey b/c it's a big motor (2.4l vs the 1.6-2.0's that run around like a swarm of hornets) and it doesn't like to rev past 4000 rpm vs the 7-8k rpm of the "ricers" running around. To me, it sounds more like a utility vehicle, a tool, a farm-implement than a ricecar. If the truck was running, I would record a clip and post it.
Hey, the glasspack is free, right? Have a muffler shop fab up some piping and weld it up and see what it sounds like. If you hate it, have them cut it out and put in another muffler. It won't cost you that much to try it out. And use the cat. Mother Earth is your friend. Plus it'll be quieter.
And then post clips so we can hear them!

I have a regular style muffler, its made by Cherry bomb, its called a "Cherry bomb TURBO", strait pipe to that to a turn down behind the cabit doesn't sound that great, wouldn't recommend it since it was $45, sounds almost like an OEM muffler just a little louder. Im looking at a Flowtech Raptor to replace it, $20 at the local auto parts store.
