front drive shaft cv on rear drive shaft ?

Ok so as my project goes. 81 pickup bobed I put in dual cases and have a g series tranny and did the Chevys out back rears up front and Mercedes turbo diesel . my shaft has to be cut down to 4 ft pretty steep angle the drive shaft shop said I need a cv in it or im going to get bad vibes. im now on a tight budget I have a extra front shaft has anyone out there used the crdain join (cv) from a front shaft on a rear shaft and did it work well ?

Is it used? Those things don't last long (front ds cv). I personally would avoid it because of longevity reasons if it is used.

I think with enough lift and other modifications, it starts making sense. For stock vehicles, no.

Even with a mild lift on a 1st gen truck the driveshaft angles are horrible and the cause of some unpleasant vibrations. It only gets worse when you add a W56 (4in longer transmission). It's unbelievable how much more civilized my truck is after taking a IFS front shaft (double cardan) and having it re-tubed to fit the rear. A double cardan shaft combined with setting the pinion angle 1-2deg below the driveshaft angle will do wonders for your ride quality.

double c on the rear is scarey. a friend of mine had one on the rear of his lifted 94 runner. middle connecting nipple sheered = broken bellhousing, tranny housing, transfer case housing, gas tank, e brake lines, fuel lines. bad bad news.

my 80 longbed with a 3" lift duals and g54 tranny without resetting the rear pinion angle fit a 86 4 runner rear shaft perfectly.

Well thanks everyone for the replys . I still not sure what to do still I have a week to make up my mind . I wonder if I rebuilt it or went with a new one from the drive shaft shop. A new one would prob be pricey. Im using Cincinnati driveline to do the work he said 75 to shorten the shaft and another15 to 20 to add the cv. Im resetting my pinion angle Sunday then ill re check my angles but. Im going to drive the crap out of this thing on the road so I want a good ride.
