fender emblem removal help
On my 81 the emblems on the front fenders look to be riveted on!! I thought they would have studs that went thru the fender and nuts on the back side. But when I removed the fenders and looked, they appear to be the part of a rivet that expands. That is impossible!! I don't want to break them, so has anyone removed them and how??

emblems have a post moulded on them ..
to attach them , there is a "crown " connector that slips over the post .
because of the age of these "clips" typically they are not reusable . they are metal and are usually detereated beyond reusable shape . good thing is they are available in the aftermarket .. I use them in my shop all the time ..
or
another way is to just "snip" off the OE post , and re install the emblems using a double sided tape

Just take a pair of pliers and gently turn the crimp connector on back until it comes off.or most likey falls apart. then you can purchase new crimp connectors and reinstall like factory.be careful not to brake off plastic posts.
