factory first gen clock
Ok I just got me a factory clock for my truck on eBay but anyway I would love to get some help on how this thing hooks up, it seems to me these things are very rare and hard to come by. But my truck has the Sr5 package and I have the tape player above my radio as we speak and that's where the clock goes it takes the place of the tape player, but anyway I would love to hear if any of Yall have hooked one up or know anything about it thanks

Yeah the harness is with it but who ever had it before put those snap in connectors on it and there isn't any plug just to plug in so Idk what to do I'll have to play around with it but if anyone has anymore info please let me know

From what can trace on my 81 wiring diagram, the clock is powered from the dome light fuse via a black/white wire. It also runs to the #5 pin on the instrument panel connector and also powers the courtesy light switch. Maybe that might help. I'll look at a couple more diagram, they may help or not.

Are there any numbers on the back of the clock? If so, #4 (+) could go to the cigarette lighter fuse circuit and the #1 (-) goes to ground in the circuit. #2 and #3 appear to run the dome and tail light circuit You could probably test them from a 9V battery or the truck battery with a 15A fuse in line.

Found more info that may help. It may work for you. If no numbers then go with the letter designator below
Pin 1(GND) = GND
Pin 2(LIGHTS) = L+
Pin 3(12v) = C+
Pin 4 (IGN) = D+
Ground is kinda obvious,
L is for lights (so you can dim it with the instrument panel control),
C means constant (kinda like a memory function),
D stands for display (if the key isn't in the ignition, the display won't show up)

I have no way to check it I don't want to just start checking stuff if I can't identify what wire is what I'm one play with it a little more and if I can't find anything out I'm gonna see if the dealer can help me out

I looked around and I can't find any wiring diagrams. All I found was the clock was option from a 1983 accessories catalog from the dealer. If the dealer cant help with the wiring you will have to start guessing the wires.
